Welcome to Winestyle, the home of wine and beautiful things. As curator of Winestyle, wine has always excited me: making wine; taking all the opportunities to taste wine; and investing time and money in collecting wine.

My oenological history began with loads of encouragement from my family, a father, who had an amazing wine-tasting palate, and huge interest in red wine and a mother with a flair for international travel, who gave me the opportunity to explore and enjoy foreign wines.

Each year, I travel to international destinations and make it my business to visit new areas and take every opportunity to experiment with new varietals, all the while developing my love and passion for the wine sector.  I’ve explored a number of viticultural destinations, enjoying the various varietals that they have to offer. These regions include:  Piedmont, Umbria, Scilly, Tuscany, Orvieto, Bordeaux, Champagne, Southern Rhone, Languedoc, Douro, Napa Valley, Margaret River, and the latest, Puglia in South Italy.

In 2009 and 2012 I paired up with William Everson to create my first shiraz in a garagiste style with grapes from the Elgin region and then in 2013 I made a Méthode Cap Classique with David van Niekerk, the owner and winemaker at High Constantia, both enhancing my winemaking process knowledge.

During my career at Life Healthcare, I have run two active wine clubs at our hospitals in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, South Africa and have had the privilege to meet some awe-inspiring winemakers, who graciously shared their expertise and vinification knowledge.

I have a down-to-earth approach to wine and what you might enjoy drinking.  And I have a quirky knack of pairing wines with some interesting food dishes.

I love beautiful things and my blog covers everything from winemaking, to restaurants, fashion and decor shops, as well as international and local markets.

Feel free to get in touch via email – winestyle@mweb.co.za – I’d love to hear from any fellow wine enthusiasts, winemakers, food lovers, and travellers.
